Founder's Story

Maria Jemie

BE Women’s Community was founded by Maria Jemie, whose personal experiences with hardship, loss, and resilience inspired her to create an organization dedicated to helping others.

Long before establishing BE Women’s Community, Maria volunteered in feeding programs for street children and participated in relief efforts during natural disasters, including Typhoon Ondoy and subsequent typhoon response initiatives.

These experiences strengthened her conviction that while physical needs are often addressed, emotional and mental well-being frequently remain overlooked.

The loss of her brother, who struggled with depression, became one of the greatest motivations behind establishing BE Women’s Community. His memory continues to inspire the organization’s mission of promoting hope, encouraging open conversations about mental health, and reminding people that they never have to face life’s challenges alone.

"Maria believes that meaningful change begins with compassion, genuine human connection, and a willingness to serve."
